Most resources focus on identifying and helping youth who are bullied. But many professionals aren’t trained to identify youth who are likely to be bullying others. Here are some of the leading indicators:

  • Excessively competitive coupled with worrying about reputation or popularity
  • Blames others for problems
  • In trouble with school officials frequently
  • Has friends who bully
  • Gets into physical or verbal fights
  • Shows increasing levels of aggression toward others
  • Can’t explain or offers weak explanations for new possessions or money
  • Doesn’t take responsibility for their behaviors
